Title: Introducing myself
kyroses - May 23, 2006 04:37 PM (GMT)
Hi, my name is April. For awhile, I was dating a man who just finished the R.C.I.A process and joined the Catholic Church at Easter. I've never really been exposed to Catholicism until recently. I attended a couple of Masses and RCIA classes with him, including his confirmation at the Easter Vigil. In discussing religion, I told him that I was not sure if I could ever be Catholic, but I was open to exploring it as the Holy Spirit led me. My background is primarily Southern Baptist with a little bit of Methodism and charismatic thrown in for good measure.
We broke up a few weeks ago, but I continued to explore Catholicism via the Internet. That is how I found this site. I appreciate that several members here have come from a background similar to mine. I read the conversion stories of David and Jonathan with great interest. Things that had always been big issues to me in the past about Catholicism have been explained in a way that I can understand and accept. I still have lots of questions and I'm not sure if I'm ready to jump into the next RCIA class, but God is definitely using this site to broaden my understanding about the Catholic Church. Thanks for this ministry.

Welcome, Jaybird. I'm glad you've enjoyed the site and that it's been a help to you. They've really put a lot of work into it (I came along at the tail end, so I missed out on all that!)
Oddly enough, Jaybird is the nickname my maternal grandmother calls me.
Be well and God bless,

David Zampino - July 11, 2006 02:16 AM (GMT)
My name is David Zampino. I was raised in the Episcopal Church and joined the Charismatic Episcopal Church in 1993. I was ordained Deacon in that body in 1995; priest in 1998; and was created one of only four Canon Theologians in the US in 2002.
I offered my resignation in July of 2004 -- but it was not accepted until December of that year. Our family was received into the Catholic Church in February, 2005. Thank God, we are home!
If anyone wants to discuss my conversion, or the decisions of my family, please feel free to contact me.

I am Collin Nunis, I am 20 and I am from Malaysia. I have been Catholic all my life basically, depending on how you would want to look at it. I was baptised and raised Catholic but in my early teens I was exposed to Protestantism by my friends in the school Christian Fellowship. I became an evangelical and slightly charismatic for awhile before a Pentecostal pastor taught me of the finer points on the Catholic faith. It was then he introduced the writings of Jesuit priest Fr. Dr. Paul Tan Chee Ing (now Bishop, who was also the Pentecostal pastor's teacher in theology) to me with regards to the Catholic and Christian faith.
Soon, I saw myself going back to Catholicism but again, I felt slightly disillusioned as I was not feeling the Gospel, and this for me, makes the Eucharist incomplete. I transferred to the Jesuit parish in a city 40 minutes away for that purpose. I have never seen such emphasis on justice using the Word. For me, that was the one time Catholicism felt so alive!
However, just recently, I made the decision in goodwill to join the ICCEC as it appealed to me. With the mentoring of Archbishop Loren Hines, me and some "educated" Pentecostals are embarking on a journey to rediscover the ancient faith. I am glad to say that the Jesuit community has happily endorsed my work with the ICCEC.

 Hi ya'll! I'm a southern Virginia cradle Episcopalian, raised through all the stages of the church while growing up; the jr choir, acolyte, crucifer, etc. I affectionately call this the "conservative wing" of ECUSA. Then I went over to the other side when I went away to college., the late 60's, 70's and all that. When I came back to Our Lord I was fortunate that the Holy Spirit led me back to the church where I grew up, then through job changes and locations, I found the Baptism of The Holy Spirit, the renewal of Terry Fulham and Chuck Fulghum and the "charismatic wing" of the church. It has been a Blessed spiritual journey!
Then I followed a friend and wonderful preacher (Oral Roberts grad) from our ECUSA congregation in Denver to the Anglican Mission in America (AMiA) following the ordination of Gene Robinson. That was fine until a job advancement brought me here to Kansas. Since I've been here I found CEC in Oklahoma City while training there. I love this combination of worship. I am never comfortable in any church without liturgy, the sacraments and the ability to get on my knees!
Now, as I strive to learn more about this exciting place I've found, I find myself having to sort out the "blog" on these blogs. I still know the presence of The Holy Spirit when He comes in and He has been in these CEC churches I've been to. So I'm not going to give up so readily on this new phase of my growth. But I sure would like some direction to sources of knowledge and not so much accusation, rumor & attack.
Go in Peace and pray for the Church!
