Morning Tony,

How ya doin'? You sure are one excited dude  Are you home today because of the weather? Did the government shut down? I'm home because of Parent/Teacher conferences (we paras don't work 'em). Maybe I should pray the rosary and ask our Mother to send me money so I can come out there and see you dance down the isle to your first Euchariest. Wouldn't that be awsome. I know Mike is planning on going. When do you think David Z will open the gen. thread again?

50 days! That's a long weekend considering how time is flying this year. ;)

Mys-t-cal

David Z. has no immediate plans to open the general thread again. Indeed, I am unclear as to whether intense CEC discussions will ever appear on this forum again. :o

I'm sick of the catastrophe that was and is the CEC, and I pray that everyone lands softly -- but I'm not sure that continuing in the same vein is productive any longer.

Blessings to you,

kenfollis@juno.com - February 15, 2007 04:13 PM (GMT)
These are things we all might consider:

There are many people still hurting. There are many of us who have loved ones in the CEC or some new communion. Perhaps the CEC thread can take a more pastoral role, one Bridgette brought to the forum. (Bridgette, we miss you!!!!)

I appreciate Stupid Flanders and his anonymity due to what he brings to the forum. It is his genius and personality. Likewise, there are many pro-CEC or non-Roman Catholic folks who bring their own gifted thoughts and styles to the forum. I would like to see them posting again.

Additionally, it would be a travesty if we, once orphans and paupers in Protestantism, fight among ourselves especially after finding our Mom, the Church. If you are home in Rome, let us be charitable to those that are not but especially to those who are already. Let's not attack those still in limbo- not CEC and not Roman Catholic/ Eastern Orthodox. It is our duty as Christians to forgive and pray for Adler and any other person, especially clergy, who have hurt us. At the same time, try to recall what good they have done.

In conclusion, those of you who still wandering, come home! The Father and Mother are waiting to bless you with their seven graces. Psalms 110.

"Jesus, we need You!"

Thank you, Ken! I agree with your call for a more pastoral, kinder and gentler forum. Bridgette where are you???

I think it would be a mistake to close the thread permanently. I would love to have a day or two that Guest's could indicate if the forum is helpful to them, or not. I see a number of them perusing all the way back to "what's up in the CEC" thread.

And...Thank you David Z. this has indeed been taxing. B) Even those who have left the CEC still have strong personal feelings and allegiances both to those who remain and to those who have left.

Tony, I like the countdown thread! I don't know if we'll be having an extravaganza here for Easter...but there will certainly be much rejoicing! :)

I think I like this thread better than the other one.

(Tony, do you promise YOU won't delete my postings?? And I know you're not above actually responding to my emails).

Ken, I, too, appreciate Flanders' ascerbic wit and humor! He pushes people's buttons by pinpointing their hypocrisy and self-delusion with biting accuracy. We all need a little Flandering now and then to ensure we don't take ourselves too seriously.

(Of course, some humor is apparently more equal than others on this forum, as the last day has shown).

In addition to a little joshin', we can all benefit from plenty of good, Catholic charity towards our brothers and sisters, no matter where they are in their walk.

I, for one, will be crying tears of joy on Easter when Tony and so many others join us in the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.

Welcome home, brother!!!

Sarcasm noted Cate! :o

Actually, I deleted the entire controversial conversation, hopefully to let everyone -- myself included -- pause, step back, and take a deep breath.

I, too, rejoice with you and with Tony and with all those who will be received at the Great Vigil (which is one of my favorite services throughout the year).

Blessings,

Tony,
I was wondering, if one of the "things" you will be fasting for Lent is your countdown? B)

I think many of us will be standing in line waiting for Eucharist, thinking; this is the best day of Tony's life :)

Patrick - February 19, 2007 12:05 AM (GMT)
Tony,

Thanks for the countdown. It is the same for me. I will also have the joy of being received into the Church at the Easter vigil. For myself, it is coming to the one year mark of being part of the Church. Last year at Lent I attached myself to the local Catholic parish. However, after Easter, I tried to still make a go of it in the CEC. Still, it was a special time in my life. God was really working in me, showing me many things that are now coming to bear fruit as I prepare to be received into the Church.

Jaybird - February 19, 2007 03:49 PM (GMT)
I'm starting to get very excited! Waiting will make it that much sweeter! 47 days until I can share in the Supper of the Lamb with my Lord Jesus, our Blessed Mother, Saints Peter and Paul, Mary Magdalene, Saint Pio, Saints Theresa and Therese, my mother, my grandmother, Saint Jerome, Saint Polycarp, Saint Joan of Arc, Saint Cecilia, Saint John of the Cross, Saint Bernadette, and countless others...all in my family and all rejoicing at table together...because our Lord Jesus humbled himself enough to become a man and give his life for us because He loved us so much He didn't ever want to live without us.

Hallelujah!

45 DAYS AND COUNTING TO HOME IN ROME  ;)

So today, actually this evening at 7:00PM, I made an Ash of myself!

...I pray for all of us as we enter this Lenten Season. I pray for the changing presence of The Holy Spirit, to do within each of us that which needs to be made to make us "more like Christ". I pray that we all may find the change during this Lenten time that makes us more pleasing to God and more staisfied with the direction He has provided.

God Bless each and every one, may you have a Blessed Lent and draw closer to Him so that in 45 days, we can once again celebrate the gift He has given us in new life!! :D

Blessings,

Roy

44 DAYS AND COUNTING TO HOME IN ROME

Tony,
Hard to believe how the time is flying by, isn't it?

I have to say, Ash Wed. service last night was quite moving for me. The reading from Joel brought me to tears. But, joining all the others (the church was packed) to receive the ashes was just a foretaste (no pun intended) of what it will be like in 44 days...to join them at the altar to receive Eucharist. But last night gave me a sense of "family" that was so incredible.

Yes, Tony, we are almost there!

kenfollis@juno.com - February 22, 2007 07:53 PM (GMT)
It is refreshing to know that we are enjoying the journey as well as the destination...smelling the roses on the way. Ouch, they have thorns!

truth_seeker - February 23, 2007 01:16 AM (GMT)
I've edited my previous post...my fingers and my brain weren't cooperating. Of course, the reading was from JOEL, not JOB!!!

Ken,
At least the roses SMELL and LOOK nice! ;)
