The news has just come across the wire that the Rev. Jerry Falwell has died.
While I find myself profoundly out of sympathy with many of his religious and political views, he did, in my view, introduce the concept that it was okay for religious faith to have a voice in the public square -- a concept which has been embraced by many persons of many different religious and political beliefs (Example: Sen. Joe Lieberman's Orthodox Judaism and Fr. Richard John Neuhaus' "First Things" magazine.)
May the Rev. Falwell rest in peace.
I would be very interested in commentary.

No additional commentary except to give my condolences to his family and friends. May they be comforted during this transition time in all their lives and may he rest in peace.

He was what a real warrior of Jesus should be.
