Title: Trinity Sunday
Description: A most blessed Feast Day!

David Zampino - June 3, 2007 02:57 PM (GMT)
Greetings, all, and a most blessed Trinity Sunday!

Did you know that the originator of Trinity Sunday was St. Thomas Becket? It was later extended to the entire Church.

I love this feast; it's one of my favorites.

Anyone have a particular favorite song, hymn, prayer, etc. appropriate for this day?

One of my favorite hymns is Holy, Holy, Holy, which is, of course, a classic Trinity Sunday hymn.

Today our pastor noted the necessity of the Trinity by pointing out that God is love. In eternity past, before all creation, who did God love? Himself? That would be pretty vain. No, it was the Persons of the Trinity sharing in this love- loving and beloved. It makes sense. I had never thought of it that way.

I would have to say "Holy, Holy, Holy" is one of my favorite songs, too. I also like "Open the Eyes of My Heart" and "God of Wonders".

I also really like Mark Altrogge's song, "In the Presence". (Lyrics below)

What a glorious mystery, the Trinity!

In the Presence

By Mark Altrogge

In the presence of Your infinite might
I’m so small and frail and weak
When I see Your power and wisdom, Lord
I have no words left to speak

In the presence of a holy God
There’s new meaning now to grace
You took all my sins upon Yourself
I can only stand amazed

Refrain: And I cry holy, holy, holy God
How awesome is Your name
Holy, holy, holy God
How majestic is Your reign
And I am changed in the presence of a holy God

In the power of Your glory
All my crowns lie in the dust
You are righteous in Your judgments, Lord
You are faithful true and just
