Title: Where Is Everyone????
truth_seeker - September 13, 2007 08:43 PM (GMT)
Just wondering why this forum is so quiet....?????? :(

Good question. I for one, have been chanelling observation and sharing of thoughts at the Byzantine Catholic forum. Simple Sinner has been there too.
Boy, it IS quiet...

No doubt because there's nothing controversial to rake through the leaves.... I saw some interesting stuff the other day and debated posting it. I think I will just because it involves the Catholic Church, yet its so similar to other deniminations. Give me a minute or two, you'll see it... it involves, Women!! God Bless them each and every one! :D

Well, agreed. Nothing's happened, and perhaps a lot of the ex CEC'ers have hopefully moved on into other churches and other ministries. I did note that the www.iccec.org has a new website, which looks pretty good, and that on that page there is a great story by Canon Epps about Bp Holloway.

I'm glad to see some of us are still alive and kickin'. ;)
And how are all of the newbies to the Church? (That includes me!) The longer I'm in the Church, the more I realize how much there is to know and grow into.

I hate to say it, but there are those who only wish to converse when there is controversy! Since this forum has shut down CEC conversations, most of the troublemakers (who have gone elsewhere) have stopped trying to "stir the pot".
When Mike B.'s forum started requiring registration, participation died. Unregistered agitators could no longer do damage.
When I stopped accepting comments on CEC posts on my own blog -- comments on any/all subjects dropped off.
When CECHealing opened his blog earlier in the summer, many of the "usual suspects" (even using the same "handles") started attacking and badmouthing a hurting person (and flooding THAT site with porn) he, too, started requiring registration -- and the "usual suspects" disappeared.
It all remains grevious to me.

Well, that would not be why I am not posting much. Actually, I never did post much at all. Since I am not a Catholic, but an Anglican, I mostly read on the boards. There are some wonderful and informative articles that you have gathered on this site and it takes a bit of time to read everything. One link will link to another and it is all very intersting.
Controversy is not "my cup of tea" but I do like to read the posts that any of you post regarding things that build up the faith of Christians. It seems that the Catholics who are talking are doing it more on other sites. One is Profound Gratitude and that links me to many more sites; not controversy, but following the journeys of others in their faith walks and communities.
Thanks to those who prayed for me and our family during the recent death of our cousin in Maui. We still are grieving but the deep sense of that is passed and we are more at peace.
David, post parts of your academic papers and I can read all day. There are many things that I learned from your papers and discussions so keep them coming.
Blessings to everyone,
Mary Katherine

This may bring some of them back for comment if the CEC thread is reopened.
I just posted this on the On Our Way Home Forum:
On Our Way Home Forum| QUOTE |
According to a very reliable source, new charges of sexual impropriety have been leveled against the Patriarch of the CEC.
Also an admission of sexual impropriety by the most prominent Archdeacon in the CEC.
It seems the unraveling of the CEC continues.
Please pray for them!!! |

Thanks Mike for posting this let us all pray that this truly will be the end for the CEC and that we can be available for all who will be affected by this who are still apart of the CEC. Blessing to us all of us

By "End", I assume you mean the end of problems for the CEC. Though I have my issues with the CEC, it got many of us where we are today and has been, itself, both a destination and a part of many of our journeys.
I do pray for those who have chosen to remain the CEC that they will weather this storm by either taking shelter elsewhere or by rooting out the problems and making a better place for themselves.
My own church has had its share of scandal and has chosen sometimes to do "damage control--spin" and sometimes to be forthright. The latter is the better path. Then the people are informed to make the best decision about their own spiritual welfare.

Truer words were never spoken. I see things have heated up again now that there is more "dirt". It saddens me that there is dirt, and that this is the only time certain people come out of the woodwork.
Lord, have mercy. :(
